Adding Foam Subroadbed
2011 October 23rd

I've added one-inch styrofoam upon which to lay the cork roadbed. Building a grade to bring the trains to upper levels was easy: I carved the grade from the foam and put supports beneath it before I glued it to the plywood.

The first two pieces of foam are glued down.

The first grade is cut into the subroadbed.

The second grade is cut into the subroadbed.

Blocks are glued under the subroadbed to support the first grade. The numbers show the elevations.

The next two pieces of foam are being glued down.

The last two pieces of foam are glued in place. The two grades will connect the loop tracks.
